about holly

Holly was brought up in beautiful Dumfries & Galloway where living on a farm nurtured a fascination and love of animals which continues to feed her work as an artist and illustrator today.

This fascination has encouraged Holly to travel to places such as Africa, Galapagos and the Amazon in pursuit of new subject matter and inspirational imagery. She brings her research drawings home to the Stunning Scottish Borders where she lives and works, sharing her home with partner Craig and, of course her dog Marbles.

At the end of 2003, having lived in the city for five and a half years whilst studying at Edinburgh College of Art, Holly could not wait to get back to the countryside and get her first Dalmatian, Marbles. Here a love of all things spotty began, and Marbles has been a constant companion, source of inspiration, and distraction ever since.

Holly's first children's book, "Silly Jack" was published by Walker Books in August 2006 and she has since worked on numerous book collaborations as well as constantly developing her own story book ideas. Silly Jack was inspired by the real animals that lived on the farm, Jack was a Shetland pony that used to come into the kitchen, the only difference is that the real Jack was black!

Holly is constantly drawing and painting and exhibits her work regularly in galleries across the country.

MarblesINK greetings cards, mugs and wrapping papers are available to purchase online here in the shop, also on http://notonthehighstreet.com and widely available in gift shops across the country.

Holly's latest and greatest creation is her new baby girl Honey Kea who arrived on 20th June 2009. Holly lives and works in Edinburgh with her husband Craig, daughter Honey and of course Marbles!
